Thank you to all who are saving the date! We have now opened registration for our summer camp to be held July 17-19 at the Lutheran Outdoors Ministries Center, 90 miles west of Chicago, Illinois.
Join us for a few days of rest, relaxation, and the outdoors. Let us encourage you and remind you what healing Christ can bring as you walk this grief journey.
aNew Season℠ 2015 Widows Summer Camp Retreat is a two-night, three-day event where our writer and speaker team will help draw you closer to the healing heart of Christ. We will come together as a community of women who have experienced loss. We will minister to each other in a way that no one else can. We will offer our insights, grounded in biblical truth, combined with practical tips, to guide you through the difficult process of healing.
Those who register and make payment before May 15 will receive a batteryless waterproof Nightstar LED flashlight to use at the camp retreat ($19-29 retail value). Carry these to our evening bonfires or use them as you step out in the cool evening air!
Hear Kit and Worship Team Member Chris Cole Describe the Camp:
We started planning this camp in February, and had a chance to capture our first thoughts while together in Dallas at our Winter aNew Season℠ Conference. (Note that when we discuss free child care, we are referring to children five and older. Child care is available for ages five and up, and children four and under will stay with their mothers on site.) Click on the video play button below to hear Kit and Chris talk about the plans!
The camp will be held at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center in Oregon, Illinois, ninety miles west of Chicago (complimentary transportation will be provided by the camp from Chicago O’Hare airport). Camp location information can be found on their website at lomc.org.

- Step One: Register for the camp retreat program through A New Season Ministries, Inc..
- Step Two: Receive a confirmation email which will also be sent to LOMC.
- Step Three: Call LOMC. They will check that you are on their list. Then you can register your payment for accommodations and meals, and set up transportation from O’Hare, if needed. Contact information for LOMC can be found here.
The accommodation price is $130 for Adult Retreat Center, $110 for bunkhouse (13 –adult), $55 for 5-12 year olds. This price includes two nights stay and five meals (dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday). Accommodation for children between five and twelve is half price. Children four and younger stay for free.
Activities and Child Care:
Zip lining is included in this program at no extra cost. LOMC has trained counselors who will work with you and your kids and supervise your kids four and older while you hang out with the other widows and team writers and participate in group events. Your child who is three or younger stays with you.
Family worship time and bonfire activities will be carried out together with the family.
Adult Retreat Lodges, Bunk Houses, and camping:
There are three types of accommodations available.
Adult Retreat Houses are similar to hotel rooms and hold three twin beds to each room. There are thirty-six available spaces for widows to register for these rooms.
Bunk Houses house rooms of four bunk beds each (eight beds). Children and teens will stay in supervised rooms in the bunk houses. These are air-conditioned rooms with bunk beds. No linens are provided, so kids will need to come prepared with sleeping bags and pillows. There will be a counselor in each bunk house room. Mothers who bring children four and younger or moms who wish to stay with their children will be able to sleep in a bunk house room at night.
Camping is available to those participants wanting to bring their own tent or camper. Cost for camping is $4.00 per night per person. Cost for electrical hookup is $5.00 per night regardless of the number of people in the campsite. Participants camping will need to purchase meals through lomc.org.
