Yesterday I shared that I have been meditating on Hebrews 10:39 (NIV):
But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
And I love, love, LOVE that those wonderful words of encouragement are followed by Hebrews 11 – often referred to as the Hall of Faith! When you look at the list of names in the Hall of Faith, it doesn’t take long to remember that these men weren’t perfect. Many of them had major fumbles in their lives; but they were all still living by faith when they died. So often we focus on our fumbles and forget to truly celebrate our victories. By God’s grace we have not shrunk back and been destroyed. We are walking by faith and we are victorious.
My victories might seem laughable to some. I considered it a victory when I set up my online banking; I hadn’t paid the bills in almost 20 years. And some of my victories have been beyond anything I would have imagined, like going back to the Philippines on a mission trip, just five months after my husband’s death. But each and every victory deserves to be celebrated, because it is an act of faith. Earlier today someone sent me a text and mentioned that I had come up in conversation and she wrote “you have no idea how much you touch people’s lives”. What a great reminder to all of us! We touch more lives than we can possibly imagine – just by walking through this journey in faith!
Let’s celebrate! Please share your victories, big and small, with us so we can give thanks, praise God, and touch more lives!
